Introduction
You are about to complete the Dairysafe business continuity model. The model consists of four parts - the first is a list of dairy products produced by your business. The second part is a set of questions covering various categories and associated context statements. The statements are provided to assist you with the intent of each question. The third part of the model is a matrix, which automatically processes the information you have provided in parts 1 and 2, and the fourth part is a summary of your answers and potential opportunities for reducing business continuity breakdown.
The horizontal axis of the matrix indicates the relative risk of the products you produce and is based on the highest risk product. The products are ranked as low, medium and high-risk dairy products. This ranking was refined from the ranking provided by Food Standards Australia New Zealand. Products range from low (milk powder, UHT milks, hard cheeses), through medium (salted butter, ice cream and pasteurised milk), to high risk (fresh cheeses, mould-ripened cheeses and dairy desserts). The vertical axis is the measure of the potential for business continuity breakdown – the higher on the axis the greater the level of business maturity and less exposure to continuity breakdown. This measure is categorised as opportunistic, managed and optimised based on the maturity of the systems and process in place in your business.
The answers are for your use and there is no requirement to share them with anyone, including Daiysafe. The tool is provided to assist you with considering some aspects that may help you make your business less vulnerable to business continuity breakdowns.
